Eight and a half years ago, Bella chose me. I was visiting my dad in Dallas. She slept by my suitcase every night and by day, followed me around. I knew then she was going home with me (she couldn’t stay with my dad as Bella was being bullied by another dog.) I quickly became ‘mommy’ and my husband Dave became ‘daddy’ – this is what happens when you have no kids. I was the one she turned to for snuggle time and when she was sick. Daddy is who she went to for table scraps. Bella would take mommy on the same walk every day. With Daddy, she would make up new routes and of course, daddy would let her go wherever she wanted. Bella was one of the most quirkiest, high maintenance, and most autistic dogs I ever had. But I loved it and loved her. It’s hard to believe how much this little dog touched our lives and became a part of it every minute of every day.
